The major focus of the Ting lab is epigenetic gene regulation, with a particular emphasis on DNA methylation. We leverage both molecular biology and genomic tools to study the impact of DNA methylation on transcriptome diversity and genome architecture. In recent years, we have incorporated single cell omics into our projects with the goal of studying cell type-specific gene regulation that are important for normal development of the human lower urinary tract and disease progression in several cancers.
