Harnessing host immune system to fight against cancer has been my major research focus. I have developed small molecule immune-conjugates to treat CML disease. I was awarded "Hypothesis and exploration grant" from Department of defense to complete this study. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, we have developed a novel approach to restoring host immunity to fight invasive fungal infections by using pattern-recognition receptor Dectin-1 to redirect T-cell specificity against fungus. This work was published in "Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences" journal. I have received 5 year, R21/R33 grant to expand re-directed CAR T cell therapy approach to treat other invasive fungal infections such as Candidiasis and mucormycosis. I have published 31 original research articles and a book chapter in "Methods in Molecular biology" on "Proteases and Cancer". As a principal investigator, I have received 4 federal grants, 1 American cancer society grant, 1 Institutional research grant and 2 seed grant to conduct his research studies.
