Dr. Arey's research program focuses on identifying novel and conserved regulators of learning and memory, with a particular focus on cognitive aging. We use an interdisciplinary approach, combining C. elegans genetics and genomics tools along with microscopy and behavioral assays. We are particularly interested in how molecular changes in the nervous system contribute to age-related memory loss, and finding pathways that prevent cognitive decline.
