Research Interests
Thirty-plus year's experience in hospital based practice based in an academic institutions with radiology and nuclear medicine residents and cardiology fellows. Following my training at UCSF and USC/LAC medical centers, I spent 4 years at UC Davis medical center in Sacramento and the remaining 29 years at St. Luke's Medical Center and the Texas Heart Institute in the Texas Medical Center and as faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine. The first of those 19 years I was also associated with Texas Children's Hospital. The practice involved clinical, research and teaching in a full-service nuclear medicine service including SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and non-sealed source therapeutics including P-32, I-131, Sir-Spheres, Sr-90 and Sm-153 lexidronam. I have a strong background in medical imaging and processing and a strong interest in using AI and genetic algorithms for improving medical care and delivery, as in using large data for medical analysis beyond clinical trials and optimizing scheduling and processing.
