Dr. El Sahly is a graduate of the American University of Beirut School of Medicine. She trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut and in Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, where she currently serves as faculty. Her clinical responsibilities include providing HIV medical management at Thomas Street Health Center and Infectious Diseases consultation at Ben Taub Hospital. Her research includes tuberculosis epidemiology and clinical vaccine development. She currently serves as the Principal Investigator of the Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit at Baylor College of Medicine.
