The focus of my lab is to determine how caspases function in apoptosis and non-apoptotic processes to protect from disease. We develop and use imaging-based methodologies to interrogate activation of distinct caspases in normal and transformed cells and how their activation impacts cell fate. A major focus of the lab is to investigate the role of caspase-2 as a tumor suppressor. Our overall goal is to determine how caspase pathways can be manipulated for preventative and therapeutic purposes.
