I started developing an interest in lipid-protein interactions during the late years of my Ph.D. in Rene Descartes University (Paris, France) while studying the oxidative processes occurring in an in vitro model of mitochondrial inner membrane. This led me to the laboratory of Dr Vincent Forge (Grenoble, France) as a postdoctoral fellow to work on the mechanisms of bacterial toxins interactions with membrane. There, I acquired a precious expertise in diverse biophysical and biochemical techniques employed to follow the molecular events leading to toxin translocation across membranes. My will to keep on working with membrane proteins while focusing on both lipid and protein aspects was fulfilled when joining Pr. William Dowhan's laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in 2008. Since then, I have been pursuing my interest in lipid-protein interactions while discovering important new aspects connecting protein structure and function to lipid composition of the membrane.
