She is also the Director for the Center for Human Immunobiology at Texas Children's Hospital. Her research over the past 20 years has been focused on epidemiology, clinical outcomes, and host-pathogen immune response related to vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, including West Nile, dengue, Chagas, and rabies.
