Research Interests
As an educator, I apply the lessons learned from my research as well as that of others to help prepare a diverse physician workforce. This includes supervising child and adolescent psychiatry fellows and providing strategic leadership for medical school programs and services that foster the academic success and professional development of Baylor medical students. I work closely with colleagues throughout the medical school to ensure policies are communicated to students and that students' needs are met. Regionally and nationally, I participate in various initiatives to promote professional development, enhance workforce diversity and improve wellness for medical students, residents, fellows and physicians. Most recently, as Associate Provost for Institutional Diversity and Student Services, my focus has broadened to include all schools and educational programs of the College. In this role, I am expanding my work to meet the needs of all Baylor learners and enhance workforce diversity for researchers and health professionals as well as physicians.
