Assistant Professor, Psychiatry, UT Health Science Center at Houston, Director, Neuroimmune Interactions In Depression, Addiction, And Pain (NIDAP); Director, Interdisciplinary PET Working Group
Dr. Prossin's clinical translational research program focuses on developing novel and innovative molecular neuroimmune paradigms to investigate the role of neuroimmune interactions at the intersection of pain and depression. At the root of his work is a strong desire to translate robust findings from psychoneuroimmunology research in animal models to humans and subsequently develop more efficacious immune based treatment strategies in stress-related negative affective states, including depression and pain states. More specifically, much of the focus of the NIDAP Research Program is to enhance understanding of molecular mediators and moderators underlying neuroimmune interactions in co-morbid pain and depression.
