Thomas Newton, M.D., professor, does research aimed at translating findings from preclinical research into human laboratory studies with the goal of developing improved treatments for cocaine and alcohol dependence as well as PTSD. A particular target is norepinephrine, as this neurotransmitter system is critical for the reinforcing effects of stimulants.
