I lead a team of analysts, programmers, and statisticians at MD Anderson who are responsible for governmental, internal, and high-stakes analysis and reporting. We also maintain dozens of institution-wide systems. Whenever reasonable, we design, code, and maintain our own software. Doing so not only means we understand it completely; it brings our team joy. We're often the first to embrace a new framework or try out a new technology at MD Anderson. We're early adopters, and proud of it. I am a firm believer in servant leadership. I also believe in applying technology with an eye towards its human consequences. In other words, my team uses technology to improve human work and outcomes, not for its own sake.
