The overarching interest of the Hyser lab is to dissect the cellular signaling pathways exploited by pathogens that contribute to human diseases. Our main interest is host cell calcium signaling, as well as cross talk with other secondary messenger signaling pathways. We use several model systems, including rotavirus, enteric caliciviruses, and other enteric viruses and bacteria.
