Ciliate Genome Evolution, Developmentally Regulated Genome Rearrangements in Ciliates, Evolution of Cis-Acting Factors in Genome Processing, Protein Evolution in Ciliates
Dr. Rebecca Zufall's lab is interested in understanding how genome architecture influences evolution, including population genetics and genomics, molecular evolution, mating system evolution, and the evolution of sex. The main study system is ciliates, eukaryotic microbes that contain two types of nuclei in each cell and undergo massive developmental genome rearrangements.
